DRAMA NEWS - INTRODUCING DRAMA CLUB

The Performing Arts Department is moving full steam ahead in 2023 with the addition of our NEW Drama Club! Created and led by student team, Bailey Hopkins, Chloe Kourtis, Sol McIver and James Keleher, students can find a safe, creative outlet on Tuesdays at Lunchtime in the Bunjil Centre (Theatre)

I am very proud of these Year 12 students, determined to leave behind their legacy of Drama Club for years to come at WHSC.

“We’ve decided to start Drama Club not only for the purpose of acting, but for developing new skills, building confidence, having a good time and making new friends. This is also a good opportunity for students to collaborate and work together. We’re hoping this will encourage students to build enough confidence to create performances that they can perform in front of an audience. These skills could also lead into bigger involvement in programs such as the College Production. Students will be able to improve on skills such as acting, writing scripts, or even the technical side of theatre like lighting and sound.” – Bailey Hopkins, Chloe Kourtis, Sol McIver and James Keleher.

We invite everyone who is interested in performing and wants to either grow in their confidence or build skills. Drama Club begins Tuesday 21st February and will be held every week at lunchtime. Please email Ms. Ellis if you would like to sign up to Drama Club. All are welcome!!

SUSTAINABILITY @ WHSC

Hi everyone,

My name is Amineh, and I'm excited to introduce myself as the Student Leader of Sustainability. As part of my role, I'll be working alongside our sustainability captains Kim and Charlotte, as well as our sustainability teacher Ms. Rainford, to help promote sustainability and eco-friendly practices throughout our school.

I'm passionate about making a positive impact on our environment and believe that by working together, we can create a more sustainable future. I'm looking forward to collaborating with everyone to implement new initiatives, reduce waste, and promote eco-conscious habits that will benefit both our school community and the planet as a whole.

HAVE AN IDEA? TELL US!

If you have any ideas, questions, or suggestions for how we can improve sustainability at our school, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or any of our sustainability team members. Together, let's make a difference and inspire positive change.

Best regards, Amineh

Join the Movement: Keep Our School Clean and Sustainable - Throw it in the Bin!

We can all agree that our school environment is important, and we should all do our part in keeping it clean and sustainable. One easy way to do this is by bringing "nude food" to school, which means food that doesn't come in packaging, like a sandwich or a piece of fruit in a reusable container. We can also reduce the amount of

packaging we use by bringing reusable water bottles and containers and avoiding single-use plastic bags and containers. By doing these things, we can create a cleaner, more sustainable, and more positive environment for everyone. Let's all be mindful of our waste and dispose of it properly in the designated bins.

Let's Give the Sun a Chance to Shine: 'Lights Out' Trial during Period 5

Starting on Monday March 6th, we're introducing a new sustainability initiative at Wheelers. During period 5 each day, we'll be trialing a "lights out" policy for rooms that have good natural lighting. This means that we'll switch off the lights in these rooms to conserve energy and reduce our carbon footprint. Not only will this initiative help the environment, but it will also encourage us to appreciate the natural light available to us and make our learning environment more comfortable. We'll be monitoring the success of this trial and will evaluate its impact at the end of the term. Well done to Charlotte W, one of our sustainability captains for this great idea and initiative.
