'Creating Futures Together'
Welcome to the second edition of our College newsletter.
The past two weeks for staff and students can be likened to that of the worker bees in a hive! There has been an abundance of activities happening within the College over the past fortnight- lots of busy bees!
Hot on the heels of returning from camp, students and staff alike
attended the annual house swimming carnival on February 10th which was held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre in Albert Park. A wonderful day was had by all, and a special thank you must go to our hard-working sports coordinator’s, Kerrie Lay and Sally
Pride! Without their meticulous planning and attention to detail, this event would not have been the success that it was! Congratulations to all the students who attended the day, both as competitors and supporters, who without your support, this carnival could not have gone ahead. On the day I was so proud to see all our students being wonderful ambassadors for WHSC and a big shout out to Mrs. Brisbane who has now perfected her ribbon presentation skills!
On Friday 17th February we had our annual school photos. The day ran smoothly despite the very warm temperature on the day! A big thank you to Paula Moorman who carefully organised and managed the day! We also acknowledge and congratulate students for their attention to their dress code attire on the day- you all looked immaculate!
As per the uniform announcement on the 25 November 2022, we remind families that students are only permitted to wear PE uniform on the days they have PE and that full College Dress Codeis expected every other day. By permitting students to wear PE uniform on the days they have PE, this enables students to maximise quality learning time during their sports and PE classes. Uniform passes are still required for students not adhering to the College Dress Code.

Principal Team Update
On Wednesday 15th February, the Principal team attended the Monash Manningham Network Area Principal Forum. This meeting provided an opportunity for us to hear from the Area Executive Director, Mark Flack and the Regional Director, Karen Money about the overarching priorities, opportunities and challenges in 2023. We also had a workforce update presented by the Department of Education Policy and Strategy unit.
Open Day planning
We are currently in the process of planning our Open Day which will occur on Tuesday March 28th. This year we have decided to showcase our College to prospective families during the school day, where classes will be in full swing and families can experience an authentic day in the life of WHSC. Please keep an eye on our website for more information about this day.
We look forward to continuing to work with our students and families throughout the year, and welcome any feedback to ensure we continue to provide a high quality and supportive educational experience for all our wonderful students.
Judy Anderson, on behalf of the Principal Team
