Curriculum Summary

It has been a great few weeks of learning in the Grade 3s. We have began sinking our teeth into learning. Here's a summary of what we have covered:

Reading: Our focus in reading has been on predicting what might happen before, during, and after reading a text, as well as finding evidence to support these predictions.

Writing: In writing, we have been working on developing ideas for writing through writer's notebook entries. Students have been encouraged to use their imagination and creativity to express themselves in their writing.

Numeracy: Our focus in maths has been on developing an understanding of odd and even numbers and place value with numbers up to 10,000. Students have also been completing Essential Assessment tasks and will now have MyNumeracy tasks and goals.

Grade 3 - Homework Guidelines

To support student learning, we recommend the following homework guidelines:

  • Reading: 10 to 30 minutes a day
  • Spelling: Complete 2-3 days a week in your homework book
  • Maths: Work on MyNumeracy goals and Mathletics tasks, also students can practise times table at home.

Homework books should be returned to school on Fridays with completed homework recorded in student's diaries.
