Ministry

Do you ever wake up in the morning with a ginormous to-do list staring you in the face? For me, most Saturday mornings are greeted with a list of minuscule tasks and mundane jobs I didn’t get around to completing during the week. Far too often, I am left playing ‘catch-up’ over the weekend.

Last Saturday was an entirely different story. Instead of giving into my unfinished work, I decided to ignore my to-do list and visit my version of Disneyland, Bunnings.

Who doesn’t love the fresh smell of sausages on the BBQ whilst strolling the aisles for a new pot plant?

On my drive to Bunnings, I noticed a growing sense of anxiety. The guilt of procrastination hung heavy in my body and being stopped at every red traffic light didn’t help my heightened state. In a moment where I was tipping over the edge, my iPhone strangely connected to the Bluetooth in my car. A kid’s song began to blast through the speakers.

‘Your love is like a beetroot stain. It never ever goes away from me. Your love is with me every day, I know your love is here to stay with me.’

Who would have thought that a cheesy Christian lyric would have me burst into tears at the thought of God’s unending love?

It’s moments like these where I learn and learn again that God is in the ordinary moments, always ready to tell us how deeply we are loved.

College Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you that through your Son Jesus, I can talk to you at any time or any place.

I offer you my life - my body, my soul and everything you've given me.

Be close to me today and keep me safe.

In my heart, I hand over to you those whom I love; my family members, friends, fellow students, and staff of the College. I also hand over to you those whom I find hard to love, or who hurt me. Bless them and reveal yourself to them.

Guide me in all that I do so that I may walk in love. Give me the courage to shine your light in the world. Remind me of your grace so that I share your forgiveness with others. And fill me with your Holy Spirit, that I may always have hope in you.

In Jesus' name I pray,

Amen.
