Year Five/Six News

We have been very busy lately in Year 5/6!

In Week Six we had a number of students compete in the Winter Sports. Students had the opportunity to try out for different sports including AFL Football, Netball and Soccer. The selected teams competed against a number of different primary schools in Ballarat and all had a great day out – a BIG thanks to the parent helpers who came along for the day to contribute.

Throughout this term we have been studying the Gold Rush as part of our integrated studies unit and have been lucky enough to spend two days at Sovereign Hill Costume School Program. Across the two days, students dressed up and took on the roles of children in the Goldfields during the 1850’s. They experienced how to greet people appropriately, completed cursive writing using ink, played games using wooden toys from that era and recited songs and poems. An amazing and insightful experience for all students and staff!

Back in the classroom, we will be wrapping things up for the end of Term Two. Homework (maths and spelling) is still expected to be completed by students.

Thanks, Year 5/6 Team.
