Principal's Report

Term 3 Staffing

During term 3, I will be on Long Service Leave.  During my absence we have established a new structure, which is outlined below:

  • Acting Principal – Kylie Nissen
  • Acting Assistant Principal – Sarah Bigmore
  • Acting Executive team member – Candice Skinner
  • M1 classroom teacher – Claire Smith (returning from Family Leave) joining Kate Parnell

Congratulations to Kylie, Sarah and Candice, who all successfully applied and were duly appointed to their respective term 3 acting positions.

I will return on day one of term four – please all stay safe and warm, and I look forward to re-joining you all then.

Student Semester Reports

At Miners Rest Primary School we are currently changing our assessment and reporting system to 'Continuum Tracker' on the Sentral platform. All students are on a continuum of learning, throughout their primary life, measured against the Victorian Curriculum.

'Continuum Tracker' better reflects the day-to-day work of both teacher and student as they progress together through the Victorian Curriculum.

If your child displays limited or no growth, this may be due to components of the curriculum that are yet to be.

Students in Foundation receive all curriculum strands delivered at their level in one year.

Thereafter, students enter a two-year cycle in which the curriculum is delivered, ie Year 1/2; Year 3/4; & Year 5/6.

Teachers only report to evidence backed assessments with objectivity being paramount.

As such, teachers utilise ongoing assessment practices to capture each student's capabilities measured against the Victorian Curriculum.

We look forward to sharing your child's progress through Student Interim Reports (Literacy & Numeracy) in terms 1 & 3 and via a Semester Report (Literacy, Numeracy, Humanities & Specialists) in term 2 & 4.

We encourage families to speak to their child’s classroom teacher, at either student led conferences, or by booking in after school, if you have any questions.

We trust you will all see the great benefits and increased information from our new reporting format.
