Football

On Wednesday 1st of June a large group of Year 5/6 students went to brave the icy conditions in Alfredton to represent our school playing footy.

First of all, we all got together and hopped on the bus in excitement, talking about making it to regionals and maybe even further. After reaching the ground we all hopped out of the bus and threw on our boots and went to warm up.

Soon after, we were on to our first game against Warrenheip. We were off to a flyer with Sam, (who was meant to be in the back-line) who kicked a torp straight through the middle. We ended up flogging Mr Searl’s new school by about 5 goals! Sorry Mr Searl.

We then had to play Buninyong and they were a lot stronger than Warrenheip booting four goals leaving us with just the one. In the second quarter we came back but lost due to some interesting decisions.

Lastly, we were on to our final game against Ballarat Grammar and they were definitely a great team we only scored a little and unfortunately we were beaten by a few goals. We all left with a smile on our faces knowing we tried our best and had so much fun.

Great job to all the boys that came along and also to who tried out. Thank you to Miss Wood for coaching us on the day.

Netball

On Wednesday the 1st of June, 9 talented netballers represented MRPS at the Alfredton Recreation Reserve for Winter Sports. Our first game was against Clarendon College. We played a very strong game but sadly going down by a few goals. The next game we were up against Ballarat Grammar, it was a tough match and we were beaten by a lot of points! Our final match was against Gordon Primary School and we had a big crowd cheering us over the line for a good win! Over all it was a great day for all of us! Thanks to Emily for coaching us on the day.

Soccer

On the bus everyone was buzzing with excitement and couldn’t wait to win some matches.

When we got there our game was nearly straight away and we knew it would be a hard one to win. The ball went back and forth a bit but they scored pretty quickly. After the first goal they soon scored again. Then it was half time, we were hoping we would have more luck in the second half, but unfortunately they scored another two goals to our 0.

The second game was much the same, ending 4-0 in their favour. In the third game we nearly managed to make it a draw, but not quite, they won 3-2.

By the last game we were getting worried that we wouldn’t win a game, however we scored a goal within the first 40 seconds! We kept up the good pace and ended up winning 7-0.

We all had heaps of fun and can’t wait for next year.

Thank you to Mr Mitchell and Christine for coaching and helping us on the day.
