Year 2
Our Excursion to Mont De Lancey
On Wednesday, 16 June, all the Year 2 students went to Mont De Lancey homestead to learn about life in the olden days.
The blacksmith shop was my favourite part of the day. We learnt about the tools they made for the people on the farms. Everyone in our class got a chance to turn the boiling hot piece of metal so that it was like an enormous nail! A blacksmith always needs a burning hot fire to melt the metal.
The blacksmith had a monkey machine made of different metal parts. When the machine was turned on, the cheeky monkey raced up quickly to grab the banana at the top! Everyone cheered for the monkey, saying, "Go monkey. Go!" Nobody said please so the monkey couldn’t get the banana.
I really enjoyed visiting the old homestead, the church, the school and the museum. I learnt a lot.
