NAIDOC Week

On Monday, our staff gathered and we listened to, reflected on and committed to how each of us, in our own way can act on the 2022 NAIDOC Week theme: Get up! Stand up! Show up!

As a family, you might like to talk about what these words mean to you.

Each day, our children and educators acknowledge and pay respect to the sacred land upon which we learn.

We at St Gabriel’s and St Stephen’s schools, would like to say thank you

to  the original custodians of this land and recognise their commitment to education, making connections to morals, values and intellect.

Thank you to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation for letting us share your land.

We promise to look after it, the animals and the people too.

We’d also like to acknowledge the work of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander brothers and sisters who continue to Get Up! Stand Up! and Show Up! for their communities. We recognise the special contributions of First Nations peoples and cultures, that enrich and shape the cultural identity of this nation.” – adapted from Shelley Ware
