Year 10 Work Experience

This week our Year 10s have been exploring their career goals and interests by embarking on a week of Work Experience.  Placements have been found both locally and in the wider community in such diverse industries as automotive, retail, hospitality, education support, media, child care, electrical, aged care, administration, building and construction, landscaping and fencing and veterinary services.

We would like to thank each employer for their valuable contribution to the students future, by giving them this opportunity to explore their industries and to prepare for the responsibilities of adult life.

The feedback from the students has been overwhelmingly positive, as it has given them an understanding of the nature and conditions of paid work and employer expectations, a chance to 'try out' their chosen career, the ability to improve their communication skills and self-confidence, and to develop contacts with potential employers.

Monash University Open Days

I can't stress enough how important it is for students to attend open days at various institutions. So much knowledge is gained, you get a feel for the place and a good idea if this is where you want to spend the next 3+ years studying.

Saturday 6th August - Peninsula Campus

Sunday 7th August - Caulfield and Clayton Campuses

Once again, you need to register for these at:

University and TAFE Open Days

It's that time of the year when many universities and TAFEs open their doors to future students. These days are well-designed, where students get the opportunity to experience campus tours, speak to current students and staff, check out life on campus and so on. We would encourage students who are thinking of further study to attend some of these open days. When they choose their future preferences during Year 12, they will have an informed idea of where they may like to complete further study.
