Year 7 Camp

From the 6th June, our Year 7 students were whisked off to Camp Rumbug for a wonderful 3 day adventure in a gorgeous temperate rainforest in the South Gippsland area. Their days were jam-packed with activities such as canoeing, raft building, mud runs, a low rope course, orienteering, a giant swing, flying fox and learning bush craft skills. In the evenings they enjoyed movie and games nights. The chilly weather did nothing to deter the enthusiasm of our intrepid adventurers, who received invaluable skills from this experience.

Thank you to our teachers for giving their time on the camp and also to our parents in supporting your child’s active participation. School camps promote independence, build confidence, encourage social interaction and team-building skills, as well as develop problem solving abilities. All of which will help the students reach their full potential.

City Homelessness Tour

On Monday 20th June, our Senior VCAL students visited the City to develop an understanding of the plight of homeless youth in Melbourne. After a walking tour of the CBD, they participated in group activities where they brainstormed the reasons behind homelessness, breaking down stereotypes. It was an enlightening experience for all who attended.

Year 7 Ancient China Day

Recently our Year 7 students have been studying Chinese customs and culture in their Humanities classes. To further increase their understanding of this subject, an Ancient China Day was held on Wednesday 22nd June.

The students were able to immerse themselves in activities such as Thai Chi and lantern making and discovered the centuries old Great Wall by participating in the 'Great Wall of China Building Competition'. They enjoyed learning about the ancient civilisation in a hands-on way, giving them a deeper insight into Ancient Chinese traditions and their way of life. The students finished their day with a social event; watching the film, Mulan.

Year 10 Celebration Lunch and Assembly

The behaviour by our Year 10 students during the exam period was exemplary. To reward their conduct, a special Awards Assembly and Celebration Lunch was organised by the Year 10 Sub-School. It was fantastic for the entire cohort to be able to celebrate finishing Semester 1, as well as their outstanding efforts, engagement and behaviour during the exam period.

Victorian State School Spectacular

We are proud and excited to have some of our students participating in the 2022 Victorian State Schools Spectacular.

The Spectacular brings together government school communities from across Victoria to produce a three-hour live show – involving music, dance  and circus arts – which will be performed to an audience of around 12,000 people at John Cain Arena on Saturday 10 September over two shows at 1pm and 6:30pm.

Talented Victorian students will feature on stage, while many other students will work behind the scenes, gaining unique, on-the-job, professional experience.

The Spectacular is a creative vision of industry professionals including Creative Director Neill Gladwin, Musical Director Chong Lim AM, Dance Director Deon Nuku, (Scooby Doo, Happy Feet, Moulin Rouge) and Associate Dance Director Yvette Lee, (Dancing with the Stars, X-Factor Australia, Australia’s Got Talent and So You Think You Can Dance).

For a fun, family entertainment experience, and to cheer on our students from the audience, be quick to secure tickets as they are selling fast via www.ticketek.com.au/spectacular
