Dear Saltwater Community,

We have some very exciting events coming up which include, the Scholastic Book Fair, Book Week and Book Day.

The Scholastic Book Fair

Our school is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair on Tuesday 16th - 19th Friday of August 2022.

The Book Fair Family Event will be located in the gym foyer before and after school throughout the week and we would love to see you there, visiting with your child/ren.

During the week of the Book fair, your child will have the opportunity to explore a huge range of affordable books featuring characters and subjects students love and want to read about.

There are several ways you are able to purchase books:

  • By cash or card by visiting the Book Fair Tuesday to Friday before or after school 8:00am - 9:00am or 2:40pm - 4:00pm.
  • By filling out the order form and returning it to the school office.
  • Your child/ren will also have the opportunity to visit the Book Fair with their class.

Book Day

The theme for Book Week 2022 is Dreaming With Eyes Open…

As part of our drive to promote and engage our student’s interest in reading, Saltwater College is having our BOOK Day celebration on Wednesday the 31st of August.

On this special day that is Book Day, your child is invited to come to school dressed as a favourite character from any book they love to read. We would love to see the students bring a copy of the book to share with their class if they have a copy, or there may be a copy in their class library.

The dressing-up possibilities are endless. Some ideas of characters include: Oliver Twist, Fantastic Mr Fox, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, Danny- Champion of the World, Matilda, Goldilocks, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Twits, Cinderella, Gruffalo, Elmer the Elephant, Three Little Pigs, Harry Potter etc. We look forward to seeing the creativity that students show in their dressing up.

During our Book Day, all classes will participate in a parade, where they will showcase their costumes to the rest of our school. More information will come shortly regarding times for the parade. Keep an eye out on your child's year level and class SchoolBox page for more details. The students will take part in innovating a text and writing and illustrating their very own class text which will later be shared with the community.

In preparation for our Book Day, we encourage families to share favourite stories at home and have discussions around what your child will dress as for Book Day. We encourage all families to work together with our wonderful students to build and share in the excitement for this day!

We look forward to seeing your child dressed up for the special day on Wednesday the 31st of August.
