Dance

YEARS 4, 5 and 6.                                        Students have been working hard over the last couple of weeks covering various elements that help focus on muscle memory, retaining information, and attention to detail. This has been set out in the tasks given through warm up, and the beats, rhythms, and body percussion exercises especially. The purpose of this is to help students watch, follow, and repeat exact instructions given with all specific details involved. We cross reference these exercises to real life examples as following instructions in a job, on a team, or in the classroom, or in similar situations where students have to retain information set out in order to achieve the initial goal or outcome desired.                                                                                                                                                                          Students have also been working on and covering contrast in movement, and the elements of light and shade. This has drawn focus to specific details such as covering sharp and soft movements, the power and control needed, attention to detail, range of movement, accountability in students actions and the outcomes from this, and how to apply yourself to get the best results. Students communicated openly and consistently during conversations covering this, as we discussed various elements that would help us to get a better result.                                                                                                                                                                             VICTORIAN STATE SCHOOL SPECTACULAR.  Our VSSS dancers have been working exceptionally hard over the last few weeks, and achieved so much already this year. They  represented Saltwater College and our community so well, and we received special mention from some of the assistants working at the recent combined Hub rehearsals on their exceptional behaviour and work ethic. Our dancers were strong, confident, composed, and very principled, as they ran through the full dress rehearsals on the day, leading by example in all that was required throughout.                                                                                                                      This was our 4th and final combined schools Hub rehearsal before our two day's of full dress rehearsals at John Cain Arena in early September. This gave our students, as well as staff, a much bigger picture and insight as to what is yet to come. Everyone looked amazing in their colourful outfits and costumes, and we can't wait to see our amazing students shine on the big stage come September 10th. Saltwater College and the community is beyond proud of our dancers and all they've achieved so far.          Tickets are still available through Ticketek.
