Schools Tree Day

After having to cancel Schools Tree Day in 2021 due to COVID-19, we are thrilled to let our school community know that this year we are planning to run this important event again.

We have been lucky enough to receive a grant of 100 seedlings from the City of Monash which we plan to plant around the school, specifically around the Staff & Permit car park inside the school fence.  We would like to continue our Learnscapes vision and begin planting around the area that will become a wonderful outdoor classroom for your children to enjoy.

To do this, we need your help! We are making a call out for volunteers who will be able to help us weed, turn and refresh soil, help children plant seedlings, and mulch our chosen areas. There are two dates you can volunteer to help out:

  • The first is a preparation working bee on Friday 29 July (which is the official national Schools Tree Day) from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
  • The second date is EHPS Tree Planting Day on Friday 5 August between 2.30pm and 4.30pm, assisting the children to plant our seedlings and then mulch . Late winter is the best time for planting.

If you can assist on both or either of these dates, please RSVP to Yogini Patel, our Sustainability Coordinator, by Friday 22 August at Yogini.Patel@education.vic.gov.au

To volunteer for these activities you must have a current Working with Children Check and have signed the Child Safety documentation to acknowledge that you have read and adhere to our Child Safe requirements.
