From Julie's Desk....

It's good to be back

It’s great to see both students and staff back engaging in many of the diverse learning opportunities and activities that CHPS offers.  With Winter upon us, we are very aware of the potential for illness and appreciate that some children may need some days away from school.  Just a reminder to log all absences on Compass and provide Doctors Certificates if illnesses are prolonged.  Remember ‘Parent Choice’ is not classed as a valid reason for children to be absent.

NAIDOC Week – Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!

Last week the country celebrated NAIDOC Week with the 2022 theme of ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!.’ This week each class will undertake activities that explore Indigenous culture.  This term, our Indigenous students will continue to engage in the Journey Tracks program facilitated by EACH and two of our staff members, Lisa and Cheyenne.  This program provides an opportunity for our Indigenous students to explore different elements of their culture and identity.  Also, if you are in the Performing Arts Centre, you may like to check out the display that Mr King has put together, or visit the Library to read the many books we have focusing on Indigenous culture and heritage.

Uniform

Please continue to make sure that your children are in correct school uniform.  If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact me to discuss ways that we can support you to ensure that your child has all that they need to learn and grow at CHPS.

Until next time,

Julie Reid  -  Assistant Principal
