Welcome Back

Welcome back to Term 3!  Which has started wonderfully well, with students and staff returning fresh-faced!  Whilst we are seeing a high volume of student and staff absences, it’s great to have our school going full steam ahead.

I would like to thank and acknowledge Assistant Principal Amy Prior for taking on the role of Acting Principal in my absence in the last week of Term 2 – it was my family’s turn for COVID isolation!

So it's doubly good to be back and able to join in events with our students, such as today's Middle School House Athletics Carnival!  Thanks to Laura Yorke and staff for organising such a fantastic day and to those parents who braved the cold to help this event run smoothly.  Congratulations too to our Middle students for having a go, enjoying the fun and showing some great sportsmanship!

NAIDOC Week

During the school holidays, Sunday July 3 to Sunday July 10, Australian communities acknowledged NAIDOC Week.

NAIDOC 2022 invited the nation to embrace First Nations’ cultural knowledge and understanding of Country as part of Australia's national heritage and equally respect the culture and values of Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islanders, as they do the cultures and values of all Australians.  The theme, "Show Up, Stand Up, Get Up" called for all of us to continue to use system change and enhance our process of truth-telling as we work together towards treaties, or calling out racism - we must do it together.  Schools play a significant role in this system change as we are educating our nation’s future leaders on the truth and respectful relationships.

In Julie Reid’s Assistant Principal report she shares how each of the learning levels developed our understandings of culture, country and our nation’s First People and our school’s dedicated learning program for our students who identify as Indigenous, 'Journey Tracks’.

This week's Culture Connect page explores Naidoc further  and offers some terrific suggestions for engagement with your family.

Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences

This afternoon Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences will go live on Compass. Please keep an eye out for the dedicated Compass post which will give date options and times.

Parking and Safe Travels

During winter we can all be in a rush to get back to the warmth indoors. Can I please remind families to take care on the roads, park appropriately (not in disabled car spaces or over driveways) and take the extra moment to ensure community safety?
