Principal's Update

Hi everyone,

This term has flown past and we are almost at the school holidays. Parents and carers should be very proud of their students for the fantastic effort put in this term. Term 2 will conclude on Friday 24th June with a normal finish time of 3:20pm. Term 3 will recommence for staff on Monday 11th July with a professional development day, and students will commence on Tuesday 12th July. We look forward to students returning refreshed next term and ready to continue their learning.

Assistant Principal

This week we welcomed our new Assistant Principal Jeremy O'Brien to the school. Jeremy has joined us from Yarrawonga College P-12 and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience that will only strengthen our already great school. This week Jeremy has been conducting learning walks around the school and getting to know the teachers and students.

School Tours

I have been conducting many school tours over the last couple of weeks for our 2023 Foundation students and look forward to them starting their schooling journey with our Pre-Prep Program in Term 4. The school is open every day for tours and I encourage families to come and have a look at our school!

During the term we also conduct tours and learning walks for teachers from other schools. This involves groups of teachers observing our Reading and Writing Workshops in each of the classrooms. I am always very excited to show off our school and demonstrate the excellent teaching and learning that we provide. Last week we had Melrose Primary School teachers come for a tour. They were blown away by the quality of teaching and learning that was happening and how engaged our students were. I would like to share with you the feedback we received from Melrose Primary School:

I just wanted to thank you again for taking the time to meet with our little Melrose crew this morning. The hum across the school was evident and the level of consistency that we observed is an absolute credit to your school's journey. We would love for more of our staff to get to Cobram in the future. The girls left feeling super inspired and it was great to see embedded workshop models in action. We appreciate the willingness of you and your team to share resources with us.

This is a pat on the back for the brilliant work that our teachers do.

School Reports

This year our Semester 1 School reports will be released to families via Compass. Parents and carers will need to log in to Compass, either on a computer or through the mobile app, and navigate to the reports tab. All reports are able to be downloaded, and printed, from here. If you need assistance with logging into Compass please contact the office.

For families that require a printed report we ask that you contact the office by Monday 20th June to request a printed report. The printed report will then be sent home with your child on Friday 24th June.

Winter Sport

Our Year 56 students have been improving their skills all term in their chosen sport and competing against other local schools. It has been wonderful to see the improvement in their skills and team work over the term. Last Friday all 3 sports, football, netball and softball, were played at Numurkah Primary School. Students reported that they all enjoyed the opportunity to play and should be congratulated on their sportsmanship displayed in every game.

Football: CPS 10.10.70 defeated Numurkah 4.1.25

Netball: ( Gr 6) CPS 10 Numurkah 21

                (Gr 5) CPS 4 Numurkah 3

Softball: CPS 14 Numurkah 17

Thank you to Ms Newey, Mrs Grant, Miss Pfeiffer, Miss Felicity, Reid, Jocelyn and Oscar for coaching the students, running practice games, refereeing and for ensuring the program has been a success.

Out of Uniform Day

On Friday 24th June we will be having an Out of Uniform Day for a gold coin donation, which will go towards purchasing compost bins for our garden.

This day has been organised by three of our Year 3/4 students who have just completed a project on sustainability. Harper, Jordyn and Lilah have shown great entrepreneurial skills by researching what they can do to help with sustainability around the school, formulating a plan, presenting their plan and now putting it into action. Congratulations girls on a fantastic idea!

Take care and enjoy the upcoming holidays!
