2024 Enrolments

This year, there have been some changes to the school enrolment process for Foundation students in 2024. Acceptance letters are being sent out to all families who have submitted their enrolment forms. If you have a child who will be starting primary school in 2024 and you haven't yet submitted your application, please reach out to Katie at your earliest convenience. Should you be aware of any local families who have not yet enrolled, please encourage them to submit their applications promptly.

As we step into the planning phase for 2024, it becomes vital for us to have an accurate count of enrolled students at our school. This aids us in determining class sizes and ensuring sufficient teaching staff. If your child will not be continuing their journey at Bolinda Primary School next year, please feel free to send an email to bolinda.ps@education.vic.gov.au

Positive Behaviour Support

The dedicated staff members at Bolinda Primary School have come together and crafted something that will help our school grow - a positive behaviour matrix that covers all the different areas of our wonderful school.

This matrix is all about shining the spotlight on our students who embody our school values each and every day. It is also a way for us to keep things steady and consistent when it comes to our expectations throughout the entire school. Our students have gone through these expectations and are beginning to use the language that is written on the matrix.

Book Week

Book Week is just around the corner! We invite you to mark your calendars for the highlight of the week: the Book Week Dress Up and Parade, which will take place on Thursday, August 24th.

We invite our students to channel their favourite book characters and bring them to life through creative costumes. The theme for the day is open, allowing our students to choose characters from their most cherished books, whether it's a classic tale or a modern adventure.

We extend a warm invitation to all our parents, guardians, carers and families to join us for the Book Week Parade. There are also some other exciting things in the works but I will communicate these once the details are finalised.

Introducing Ranges Music Network

As our instrumental music teacher, Jacob, is, unfortunately, leaving us at the end of the term, we have a new music group joining us. Ranges Music Network will be providing the music lessons to children from Term 4. Ranges Music Network is a local organisation that operates at many local schools in the Macedon Ranges area. We are very excited about the opportunities that they bring to Bolinda Primary School. If you are interested to know more, please follow this link: https://rangesmusic.net/bps and reach out if you have any questions at shaun@rangesmusic.net

School Camp to Log Cabin in Creswick

We're thrilled to inform you that our School Council has officially given the green light for a school camp experience at the excellent Log Cabin Camp in Creswick. This fantastic opportunity is available to our Year 2 to 6 students and will run for three days from October 25th - 27th.

We deeply comprehend the significance of this camp in nurturing the overall growth and development of our students. It provides a unique opportunity for them to step beyond their comfort zones, acquire fresh skills, and establish relationships. The Log Cabin Camp promises a diverse range of outdoor activities and collaborative team-building exercises, all set against the backdrop of excellent accommodation.

For a glimpse of what the camp offers, we invite you to explore their gallery at: Log Cabin Camp Gallery.

Bunnings Holiday Project

I'm thrilled to share some exciting news with all our wonderful school parents! We've partnered with the Sunbury Bunnings team on a fantastic project that's going to add a burst of colour to our school environment. This collaboration is truly unique, and we're grateful for their involvement.

Around 30 enthusiastic Bunnings employees will be at our school on Wednesday, September 27th (during the holidays), including representatives from Dulux and Richgro, as well as a team of gardeners and painters.

Here's a glimpse of what we have in store for this colourful venture:

  • We'll be giving a fresh coat of paint to the P/1 door and the external wall of the classroom.
  • Our fort and the surrounding fence are also getting a makeover.
  • The tin garden shed and the indigenous plant fence are in for a splash of colour too.
  • We're revamping the front garden bed and the outside front fence with new plants.
  • Excitingly, we'll receive a donation of large pavers (450mm x 600mm) for the area down the back of the school, along with plants to enhance this special space when the time comes.

We're incredibly excited about this project, and we can't wait to see it all unfold. A big shoutout to Bunnings for partnering with us to help us bring this vision to life. Also a big thanks to Sharon for initiating this project and being there every step of the way.

CDSSA Athletics Event

Yesterday marked a fantastic day of sporting fun as our school proudly participated in the CDSSA Athletics Carnival at the Latrobe University Athletics Field in Bendigo. Our 16 talented students showcased their athletic skills, their sportsmanship and school values. We were very successful on the day, winning a whole lot of ribbons.

What truly set our school apart, though, was the exceptional sportsmanship and resilient attitude displayed by our students throughout the carnival. One of the most heartwarming moments of the day was seeing our students' support for one another. The highlight for me wasn't the ribbons won, but rather the high-fives exchanged among our students as they finished their events, regardless of whether they secured a ribbon or not. The unity and encouragement they displayed showcased the strong sense of community that thrives within our school.

As parents and educators, we couldn't be prouder of our students' behaviour and attitude. They demonstrated exceptional integrity, not only in victory but also in the face of challenges. The CDSSA Athletics Carnival was a resounding success, thanks to the collaborative effort of our students, volunteers and teachers. Let's continue to celebrate the remarkable values and behaviours that make our school community truly exceptional.

Basketball

On August 1st, nine of our young stars embarked on Boardman Stadium in Sunbury. They put their skills to the test, competing against students from other schools. While the scoreboards might not have been in our favour this time, our team's sportsmanship and sheer sporting spirit shone brighter than ever! They showcased remarkable sportsmanship, treating their opponents and referees with respect. A big shoutout goes to our amazing parents and supporters whose enthusiastic cheers echoed in the stadium.

RSL

Earlier this term I had a chance to meet up with the Romsey/Lancefield RSL during their morning tea session, in order to build a strong connection between the RSL and our school. During our conversations, they invited our school to participate in an essay writing competition later this year. This exciting competition will offer prizes to our students who take part. Moreover, they expressed their intention to extend an official invitation to us for participating in their commemorative services as they arise in the future.
