A successful season of Extended School Day has concluded and again I hank all of our facilitators who work with our children. As always we thank the families for their understanding and commitment to work with their children and collecting them at 5pm amid all of the traffic problems. We do always stress road safety and it is something we cannot let up on until the new school reconstruction is complete.
Thank you also to our students who bring energy and enjoyment to the last part of the day.
Our students across the campuses have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. This term the students who study at Wexford campus showed off their skills while performing to the Kinder students and the campus preps.
Congratulations to them all
The IMPACT students have been working hard with local artist and emerging fashion designer, and owner of Emipeli Design to create work for Geelong Fashion and Design Week 2023. From 19 to 29 October. Northern Bay College will be taking over shop windows and an Art Gallery window in the Geelong CBD.
Year 7/8
The Year 7/8 Impact students have been learning about drawing figurines and creating fashion collage. Using different mediums such as paper, material, felt, beads and jewels, students created a dream outfit. Students are very excited as their work is being framed and hung in the window of Hue and Cry Gallery in Ryrie Street.

Year 9
The theme of the Year 9 windows is a Masquerade ball. Students have been working hard on making masks of all different styles. From making stencils for the gown, to individual masks and parts of a giant mask, the students have been very creative in the designs they have been coming up with.
Year 10
The Year 10's designed their own theme. From influences during semester one - the graffiti walls at camp, stage production & I Juliet and the diverse people they came across in Melbourne, the Year 10's decided to create a punk, street look with three characters being the main focus - a princess, a male and a non-binary person, with many hidden messages within their design. From a trip to the Op Shop to find their outfits, to their creative interpretations of crowns and their graffiti wall, this is going to be a window with a powerful message.
Year 10 quotes
The op shop trip, we went to a few different opshops as a class to search for an array of different items to use to assemble our fashion design unit. we looked for shoes, belts, hats, jackets, different textured clothing we could use to create patches or different textures within the clothing. - Ashton Stonehouse Year 10
For the past few days we've just continued to work on helping macca, ashton, and julia with creating their outfits. We also finished making our crows and starting making the backdrop. I wasn't there on the day but the class grabbed a big tarp and just spray painted it to look like it's been graffitied. Then we did pour painting on different pieces of paper and proceeded to cut out the shape that the paint made. Then we are planning on putting all the paint cut outs onto the backdrop and using it in our shop window. - Kye Pulham Year 10
The final products will be on display in shop windows in the city next term

Hi I’m Zanda and I have been doing the Victorian state school spectacular for 6 years now and it one of the best things I’ve ever done at school. In dance we have an amazing team of dancers who become like family members in some ways performing with you. In my years of dancing I can say that it’s an amazing experience for you to be apart of this amazing group of people. Last week I damaged my foot (not in Dance!) and I may not be able to perform at the shows - but I will join the Choir and have a slightly different experience.
What state school means for me is, a step outside my comfort zone, it has allowed me to expand my skill set and adventure out into the world. I have only been doing state school for a year, and I recommend doing it. By Emma-Lea
Joining state school was one of the best decisions i have ever made, I have made lots of amazing memories and many new friends with the 4 years I have been apart if the experience. By Lizzie
I really like the fact that I get to sing and be a part of a big production and I really like seeing all our hard work come together I’ve done choir for 3 years but I’ve only performed once. Our mass choir rehearsal day at Melbourne Town Hall was really exciting too. Grace
All the schools performing at the Spectacular are requested to send a photo of their students which are then displayed around the John Cain Arena on performance day Saturday 9 September. For many years we have chosen to 'represent' GEELONG with photoshop of our campus students beside iconic views of Greater Geelong.
Back in February this year our 46 students signed up for either Mass Dance or Mass Choir and with 4 rehearsals with other schools, weekly rehearsals at Extended School Day, our stars are nearly ready for their final performances in front of an audience of 10.000 people on Saturday 9 September, not to mention all those who will watch it at home on channel 9.

IMPACT
SEED has several components at the College. SEEDLINGS are the year 6 students who are all given experiences with different sports with classes taken by a range of skilled coaches. In Years 7 and 8 SEED has 2 programs. The regular program which continues with all Year 7 and 8 students having the opportunity to enhance their skills in several different sports each term - still under the guidance of coaches. There is another 7 to 8 program ASCEND SEED which is an elective and is aimed at students who potentially may consider a pathway in a sport related industry. In Years 9 and 10 the elective option continues and skilling is enhanced through a coaching program. As a result of these programs our students grow individually in their skillsets but it also provides the outstanding opportunity to be part of a team. Feedback after COVID was very strong that youth missed the interaction of playing together as a team.
Here are some of the 2024 Teams at Northern Bay College
In Term 4 we are really looking forward to Track Club which will operate across campuses - so if you have a love of running join us with our coaches. More details next term.
