Wexford Sea Life Excursion

Across the College students went to the Melbourne Sea Life Aquarium. We traveled on a school bus and it took approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes. While being on the bus, we looked at the different types of designs of buildings and landscapes as asked from Mr. Mullaly for Visual Arts. Once we arrived at our destination, we heard and saw all the different sights and surroundings.
We all walked into Sea Life with excitement, as we laid eyes on the MASSIVE fish tank that was just a bit smaller than a classroom. We looked at the animals in the aquarium and saw sharks, fish (clown fish) and more. Everyone rushed to take a look at the Banjo Sharks. Did you know that stingrays are known as banjo sharks?
When we went to the huge fish enclosure that looked like a swimming pool. It had sharks, stingrays, small fish, big fish, eels and a couple starfish that didn't move. The stingray in the water looked so happy! There were holes in the tank, so you could go inside and have a look at the fish swimming above you. After visiting the big tank, we headed to the crocodile. The Giant crocodile was named Saltwater crocodile and it was HUGE! It was under a big pool. I stuck my head into the glass bowl and saw the crocodile up closer. There was a big clear glass that we could also stand on and see the crocodile on the bottom.
In the jellyfish section of the aquarium, there were lots of moon jellyfish (Aurelia Aurita). We saw jellyfish, fish, a weird orb that had jellyfish in it. There was a cycle with jelly fish in it too, so they had lots of jellyfish! We visited a rock pool and touchable area. We washed our hands before we touched anything. The workers let people touch shark eggs, but they didn’t have sharks inside of them. They had sea stars, but you couldn't touch the big one because it was resting. There was also a coral skeleton. I learned that coral is not a plant, it’s a sea life animal. I enjoyed putting my hands into the tank and exploring the creatures.
If you went up to the next level, there was a boat that you could sit on above the crocodile enclosure. There was a tank with turtles in the water. They were snapping turtles. There was a jungle room, where there was a pit with lizards in it. One was a two headed lizard and the other one wouldn’t come out.
The indoor rainforest had a lot of smoke coming out of it. We went to this room with dinosaurs and sea monsters. There were three dinosaur sea monsters! At the penguin enclosure, there were different types of penguins. Some were yellow, black and white and the others were white and black. They were in an ice room with snow and had a pool that they could swim in. There were a lot of penguins waddling around and some were swimming. It was so cool how they swam around.
We found out that when they sleep, they just stand up and close their eyes. Some penguins were awake and moving around. They also had a bracelet on them. After looking at the penguins, we went to the penguin playground. There was a TV and an icy wall where when you put your hand on it (it was cold). There was a penguin movie, but we didn't get to see it because it was time to go to the park and eat lunch before returning to school.
We all had lunch outside at a park nearby. After everyone had their lunch and had fun playing games outside like tag, we went back on the bus and went back to school. It was the end of the day, so we participated in our Warm and Fuzzy whole-class activity before heading home. It was fun to go to the Sea Life Aquarium in Melbourne, yet very exhausting.
