Junior Robotic Incursion

Last Thursday, as part of their World of Robotics Incursion, all the Year 1-4 students had the chance to build their own robotic Tokyo Olympics Mascot. It was amazing to see how creative (and cybernetic!) some of these robotic creatures turned out. But more than just creativity, this program gave the students a 'hands on' experience in engineering, problem solving and computational thinking.

Yr 9 Outdoor Ed- Rockclimbing

By Savanna, Lili, Sam, Toby (Yr 9 Students)

On Monday the 24th and Tuesday the 3rd March, the Year 9 Outdoor Education class went indoor rock climbing at Hard Rock Nunawading. In the lead-up classes we watched some videos on safe climbing and belaying and did some worksheets to make sure we knew what we were doing.

When climbing you have to think about where you are going to place your hands and feet, for belaying you have to focus on communicating clearly with your climbing partner.

At some points, it was a bit scary trusting your belayer to slowly lower you from a 20 metre+ wall but it was lots of fun climbing your way up.

Although some found it very challenging at first everyone improved and ended up pros by the second session. The four of us had the opportunity to be leaders where we had to try and support the others in our class while also keeping everyone on task and focused.

Everyone was super encouraging and even if you didn’t get to the top everyone always congratulated you on your efforts. To sum it all up, rock climbing is such a fun experience that we will never forget.

Thank you, Mr. Scott, for taking us we had an awesome time (thanks for the Maccas run too haha).

VCE French Excursion

By Annabel K (12KWAW)

Bonjour!

On Thursday, the VCE French (aka Team France) classes took a trip into the City to watch a movie and visit the creperie Roule Galette. We had an amazing day out, which was a great break from the stress of VCE. The movie we watched left a few of us teary eyed (or balling in my case).  The crepe shop we visited is a favourite of mine, and we enjoyed some, or maybe a little too much, delicious food, and some people in our group even had snails. It is always fun to visit the City with our French class and it was great to see Madame McGrath for the day! I’m really going to miss the annual French excursion; it's always a highlight of the school year!
