Evans welcomes visitors from China

It's a delight to share with you the heartwarming stories of exchange students who have graced our school with their presence, leaving unforgettable marks on the hearts and minds of our students. During week 4, our school welcomed students from China, fostering cultural exchange and deep friendships.

During the week our International students were able to attend classes with their buddies to have a taste of what learning is like not just in an Australian school but at Evans High School. It was great to see the bond students formed with each other after only a week. The impact of these exchange experiences extends far beyond the duration of the program.

Below are some remarkable stories of friendship that have blossomed since the visit:

Krishnay Naidu & Weiyang (Michelle)

Having this opportunity was a great pleasure as it was such a beautiful few days I had with Michelle. Other than the language barriers we were able to share each other's cultures and learn our unique lifestyles which was such a cool experience as it was very different. She’s a very bright student and I wish her all the best!

Manxue Guo, Raghad Kashkash Sarheil & Xinyi Li

Being paired up with Xinyi was a great experience, a change in the classroom. We were able to share the cultural differences in the school and conversations that others wouldn't be able to understand. She had a positive attitude towards the subjects she may not fully understand.

Xinyi Li was great. She greatly enjoyed my class. I especially know that my classmates thought it was cool that she came all the way from China. Some even communicated using Google Translate.

Samantha Nieves and Qi Chen (Ella)

Gaining the opportunity to be part of the program as well as having Ella as my partner was a great and memorable experience. I enjoyed talking to Ella about the differences between our cultures and enjoyed seeing her develop a love for Australia for its freedom and openness. I don’t think my classes interested her very much because she was more interested in the arts, but regardless of that, she observed and asked me questions. She would often say to me, “I like Australia” with a smile and I’m happy that I was able to give her a positive experience of her time at Evans High School.

As we reflect on the wonderful friendships that have formed within our school, it's evident that exchange programs have an enduring impact on our students. They encourage curiosity, foster cultural understanding, and pave the way for lifelong friendships. We look forward to welcoming future exchange students and continuing to build bridges that connect us to the wider world.
