Confirmation Reflection Day

On Monday 31 July, the Grade 6 students participated in a Confirmation Reflection Day in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation later this month.

Students participated in a prayer service, a spiritual scavenger hunt, singing, artwork and faith based activities. The students approached the day with reverence and a spirit of fun. We look forward to continuing our preparations in partnership with families.

Grade 1/2 Parent/Child Workshop

Last night, we had our Grade 1/2 students and families join us for their annual Parent/Child Workshop. The focus for the evening was 'Courage'. This linked with our school theme of being brave, taking risks and stepping out of our comfort zones to embrace the incredible strength within us. Throughout the evening, families participation in discussion and hands on activities.

Feast of the Assumption

Tuesday 15 August is the Feast of the Assumption. This is a big day for OLA each year as we celebrate our namesake.

On this day, we will hold a whole school prayer service, students will engage in activities to learn more about Mary, and we will have our biannual OLA Fun Fair from 12-1:30pm.

Fun Fair

The OLA Fun Fair is essentially a 'mini fete' where each class is in charge of organising a running a stall, and students have a chance to purchase items/engage in fun activities.

The OLA Fun Fair will be run by class groups, with the children having the opportunity to purchase items or pay to participate in activities.  All items/activities will range in price from 50c - $1. We recommend students bring no more than $10. All monies raised will be donated to Sacred Heart Mission.

Each class will need your support to provide donations for their particular store.  The list below provides details of each class stall. We appreciate and thank you for your support in advance and look forward to another successful and enjoyable OLA Fun Fair.

Mini Vinnies Gratitude

Last week, Tony French, a member of our local St Vincent De Paul Conference popped in to see our OLA Mini Vinnies. He came in to personally thank them and the school for supporting the 2023 Winter Appeal.

A letter written from Bob Hamilton, the Conference Secretary, stated that our donations added several hundred items to their depleted pantry and these items were included in the food parcels delivered to needy families.

In the last 12 months, our local conference have completed 420 home visits, assisting over 900 people. This is a huge effort!

Thank you to all of our wonderful families for supporting this great cause.
