About the 2024 NYSF Year 12 Program

The NYSF Year 12 Program connects students with the diverse study and career options available in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).  Applications close 31 July 2023.

 

2024 dates and locations

1.    The Australian National University, Canberra (5-13 January 2024)

2.    The University of Queensland, Brisbane (12-20 January 2024)

As a residential, live-in program, places are limited so encourage that young person who has an interest in science and technology now!

 

 To apply, you must be:

  • in Year 11 in the year you apply, to attend the following January
  • an Australian citizen or resident, and/or studying full-time in an Australian school

It's important to note that acceptance into the NYSF Year 12 Program is not based solely on academic results and there are no limits to the number of students who can apply from one school.

YouThrive Scholarships

Youthrive Victoria University Scholarship applications are OPEN 19 June and CLOSE 25 August 2023. Scholarships include $10,000 per year for three years, plus mentoring and leadership development opportunities. 

 

Since 2011, Youthrive Victoria has provided over $2.1 million in scholarships to young rural Victorians to support their university education aspirations. We are also proud to have supported more than 500 young people across Victoria through our Mentoring and Young Rural Leaders programs.  Youthrive offers more than just financial support to students to further their education following high school. We offer scholarships that come with wrap-around care including mentoring, leadership skills, capacity building, as well as access to a thriving Rural Youth Network and 500-strong Alumni group. We help build futures.

Key Selection Criteria: 

  • Demonstrated leadership in their local community and leadership potential (e.g., school leadership; participation or volunteering in community organisations, events, sporting clubs; sharing family responsibilities; extra-curricular roles at school etc.). 
  • Managing and/or overcoming personal disadvantage i.e. financial disadvantage, cultural challenges, social challenges, remoteness, disability, significant loss, trauma or other hardship. 
  • Commitment to learning and academic ability. 
  • Demonstrated interest and passion for living in rural/regional Victoria and an intent to return to rural/regional Victoria. 
  • The level of likely impact on their life and rural/regional Victoria if awarded the scholarship. 
  • References confirming examples of leadership, academic ability and potential, experience of hardship and how they have handled personal challenges.
