St Michael's Neon Night!

The PFA would like to thank Jacinta G, Linda S, Tanya G, Kim T and Liz F for all the incredible effort and dedication put into making the St Michael's Neon Night event a success. The event was made possible by your tireless planning, organisation, and creativity. From coordinating the dazzling decorations to ensuring the seamless flow of the evening's activities, your attention to detail was impeccable. Your countless hours of brainstorming, meetings, and coordination did not go unnoticed, and the event was a testament to your dedication. A big thank you to Therese T for help with setting up the event, Laura L for help with cleaning up the event and Kate M for loaning us some of her amazing neon creations. Furthermore, we want to extend our gratitude to all the attendees who made Neon Night a sell-out event. Your eager participation and support brought an electrifying energy to the occasion, and seeing the joy on everyone's faces was truly heartwarming. The event's success would not have been possible without the enthusiastic response from our school community.

Hello! My name is Jess and I am a year six at St Michael's School.

On Thursday next week you will see some people selling lots of delicious treats to raise money for the RSPCA, and we would greatly appreciate it if you would be able to help us, and all the innocent animals in desperate need of care at the RSPCA.

Where: St Michaels school in the Quadrangle

When: Thursday 24 of August, school pickup time

About cupcake day

Cupcake day is the RSPCA’s sweetest annual fundraising drive. On this day, the RSPCA encourages supporters to bake to raise money for the thousands of animals in their care. The RSPCA relies almost entirely on the generosity of their supporters to fund the work that they do, including investigating cruelty, rescuing, treating and rehoming animals, and running shelters and veterinary hospitals.

I for one feel grateful every day for our beautiful little cat Albert who we adopted after he was rescued by the RSPCA. Without their work, animals like Albert would never experience the love and warmth of home.

What you can do

There are two ways you can participate in cupcake day.

Firstly by grabbing your recipe books and baking something yummy to sell at my stall. Any food donations can be brought to the office before 12pm on cupcake day. Remember, cupcake day isn’t just limited to cupcakes. Feel free to get creative and put your baking skills to the test, anything sweet will do! Please note that no nuts of any kind can be included in these sweet treats since there are many people who are allergic.

Otherwise, please drop by my stall and grab yourself some yummy afternoon tea in return for a gold coin donation.

Father's Day Stall

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to announce the upcoming Father's Day Stall at our school, which promises to be a memorable event for our students and their fathers or father figures. We encourage you to mark your calendars for this special occasion, scheduled to take place on Thursday August 31st.

The Father's Day Stall is a beloved tradition at our school, where students have the opportunity to choose meaningful gifts for their fathers and make them feel appreciated. This event not only allows children to demonstrate their creativity and thoughtfulness but also provides them with a valuable learning experience in making independent decisions.

To ensure a smooth and organised experience for everyone involved, we have implemented a ticket-based system for purchasing items at the Father's Day Stall. Each ticket costs $7.50 and can be exchanged for a carefully selected gift item (physical tickets not required on the day as we will have a list).

We would like to emphasise the importance of buying tickets in advance. This allows us to plan effectively and ensure a wide range of quality gifts for the students to choose from.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to welcoming your children to the Father's Day Stall!

Warm regards,

The PFA

Looking for a team sport for your child?  Basketball is a fantastic sport for kids and families – played indoors, each week the commitment is one hour of training and a 45 minute game on Saturdays and the fees to participate are much lower than most other children’s sports.  Suitable for both boys and girls, Basketball is also a great way of building friendship circles both within and external to school.  Each year, St Michael’s participates in Hoop Time in Years 3-6 and with the Australian Boomers playing in the World Cup shortly, Basketball is definitely a game your child is going to want to learn.
