Year 9 News
Welcome back
Hello everyone and welcome back to the school year. I would like to begin by introducing myself, Glen Stephenson, as the Year 9 Team Leader. I am looking forward to working cooperatively with all the families of our year 9 students this year to support them to succeed. There will be lots of things for students to look forward to this year and although the Covid situation is by no means behind us, we can all be assured that there will greater scope to allow extra-curricular activities than there has been over the last two years.
It's great to be back and I look forward to connecting with you all during the year ahead.
Student Leaders
Year 9 recently held the elections for student leaders. Congratulations to the following students on their successful election campaigns.
Year 9 Captains
Sidney Townsend
Marrissa Johnstone
SRC Leaders
Ethan Toull
Jarrod Thomas
Daniel Lawrie
These students will be the voice of the student body as the year progresses and we welcome them all to their esteemed roles.
Term 1 focus – On Time to Class
As the Year 9 Students steam towards the legal age to gain employment, teachers and staff maintain expectations that emulate the expectations of the workforce they will someday enter. This term, the focus will be on punctuality and being on time to class. Students that are arriving to class on time will be acknowledged via the College PBS system. Those that arrive late can expect to be held back each week after assembly to make up for the time they have missed. Parents and Guardians can support this initiative by ensuring students are leaving for school in the morning in a timely manner.
Victorian School for Student Leadership
Six deserving year 9 Students from the Churchill Campus will be given the opportunity to attend the Victorian School for Student Leadership in term two this year. This school is a stay-in school that operates with groups of students from across Victoria each term. Applications for this will be open in week three. Students that have expressed an interest in this will go through an application process with the final six applicants being offered a place. Good luck to all those that apply.
