Year 7 News

Welcome, everybody! Overall, students are happy, well mannered, getting along with others and interested in their learning. This edition’s photos catch the mood of Week 1. There’s always the challenge of remembering the necessary equipment, and carrying it! It has been a giant leap from a tub in the classroom to a combination lock in a busy corridor! We’re also noticing that many students are confident to ask questions, others rely on friends. Thanks parents for keeping us informed about what you hear at home.

Workbooks have been set up to help all students organise their learning. There should be one workbook for each subject. This ensures students have easy access to their notes, can look back on content to practice skills and take pride in their effort and progress. Students are being rewarded for their workbooks as part of the Positive Behaviour Support Program.

The Year 7 team use diaries to support student organization, awareness and communication between school and home. Some students may already be in the habit of using a diary or their laptops, however, we expect either the supplied diary or similar-sized diary to be used all year.

The targeted reading program, TR@K, is underway with all students placed in a group according to their ability levels.

Year 7 Camp at Camp Coolamatong is a really important occasion for Year 7 with activities targeting this age group and skill building for the secondary school years. Students in Years 8 and above would no doubt agree that Camp Coolamatong is a must-do experience! We are aiming for 100% attendance. If you would like to know more about the program or payment options, please contact the Churchill Campus office.
