Uniform Guidelines 2022

Parents are asked to assist the College in ensuring their children are correctly dressed each day. Shoes should be polished and hair kept tidy, with girls wearing green scrunchies or ribbons if their hair is longer than their collar. No large clips are permitted to tie up hair and there is no jewellery to be worn at school, except for one ear piercing in the lower lobe. These can be silver or gold studs. We understand students may have had false eyelashes and acrylic nails through the holiday period, but these are not part of the Clayfield College uniform and students must remove these before returning to school.

Mobile Phones and Watches

Students in Year 7 need to hand their phones into Student Services when they arrive at school and can collect them after school.  Students in Years 8 to 12 are required to have them turned off and in their lockers and they are not to be used throughout the school day.

If students are caught with their phones they will be confiscated and can collect them from the Deputy Principal’s office at the end of the day. If it is a second offense, a meeting will be organised with parents where they will collect the phone at this time.

Smartwatches are able to be worn, however must be disconnencted from the interent and  whilst at school; confiscation rules as per mobile phones will apply.

Update from the Director of Teaching and Learning

Mrs. Lakshmi Mohan - Director of Teaching and Learning

Welcome to 2022!

I hope you have had a relaxing and rested holiday season.

The start to the 2022 School year has certainly been different to what we envisaged. Our academic and administrative staff have been working very hard over the last two weeks to make sure that we hit the road running with Remote Learning.

Learning Packs were organised for Year 7 students, whilst Years 8 to 10 started the year on a modified Remote Learning timetable. For Years 11 and 12, it was business as usual from Day 1, as they followed their regular timetables, albeit through a virtual delivery mode.

ACER Testing

The ACER Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) measure students’ knowledge, skills and understanding in a range of key learning areas which pinpoints where they are in their learning journey, and what support they need to progress.  Between February 7 to 11, all students in Years 7 to 9 will sit the PAT Maths, Reading and Spelling tests, and the AGAT (ACER General ability Test). Year 10 students will sit the AGAT. These tests will be administered by staff during regular timetabled lessons.

Assessment Dates – Semester 1

Assessment dates for all subjects will be available for students to view via the Student Café from Monday 7 February. For assessment that is scheduled during Exam Block, the Block Exam timetable will be issued later in the relevant term.

Years 7 to 12 Academic Procedures and Policies Document

As we begin the year, I would like to draw your attention to the Years 7 to 12 Academic Procedures and Policies Document. This document gives an overview of all procedures and protocols that need to be adhered to by staff, students and parents with regard to

  1. Academic Integrity
  2. Assessment
  3. Drafting, Scaffolding, Conferencing and feedback
  4. Subject Changes
  5. AARA

You can access the document below, in addition to the Parent Lounge and Student Café under Links: Assessment and Reporting.

Progressive Reporting

Following the successful trial of Progressive Reporting in Years 7 and 11 in 2021,  we will transition to Progressive Reporting across Years 7 to 12 in 2022. In all subject areas, after the completion of an assessment item and following marking and teacher moderation, students will receive a progressive report for that assessment item. This will provide feedback that is immediate, assessment specific and targeted. With a focus on feeding forward, the student will also receive strategies/goals for improvement.

Years 11 to 12 Information Evening

The Years 11 to 12 Information Evening is scheduled for 6:00 pm on Tuesday 8 February and will be delivered through an online format. A Zoom link will be emailed to all Year 11 and 12 Families on Friday 4 February.

Foundation Day/Investiture/Scholar’s Assembly

In guidance with the Queensland Government’s Return to School Plan, the Foundation Day/Investiture/Scholars Assembly has been postponed. A new date will be communicated once finalised.

We look forward to welcoming students back on campus on Monday 7 February.
