Primary News

Mrs. Vivienne Corness - Assistant Head of Primary

It has been wonderful for our Primary staff to connect with students and families over the remote learning period. Even though this was not the anticipated start to the school year, we are very grateful for the support shown by our College community. Thank you to Mrs. Bertie, Miss. Harris, Mrs. Harvey, Mrs. King-Scott, Mrs. Sinclair and Mrs. Cattanach for supporting and caring for the children of essential workers over the past two weeks. We now eagerly look forward to everyone returning to campus and sharing learning experiences together.

In anticipation of Monday’s return, core teachers will be in contact with families to outline which booklist items to bring to school each day.  As per Dr. Cousins’ letter on the College app dated Tuesday 1 February, a staggered delivery of items to the classroom over a few days will lighten the load of school bags on the first day of term. Ideally, only one parent per student from Pre-Prep to Year 1 will assist their child to the classrooms next week. It is hoped students from Year 2 onwards will be able to independently manage their backpacks with a reduced load of supplies each day.

Music and Sports Communication

This year all Music and Sports News will be communicated under their own respective headings in The Collective.  Please ensure you refer to these areas for important communication.

2022 Excursion/Activities Permission and Medical Details Verification 2022

Excursion/Activities Permission and medical details verification were due for completion in Parent Lounge by Monday 31 January.  If you have not already done so, would you please give this your urgent attention. It is critical this information be updated accurately and in a timely manner to ensure the safety of all students. Please log into Parent Lounge to view this information.

2022 Student Technology Guidelines and Agreement

Prep to Year 6 parents/students are required to read and acknowledge these guidelines and agreement in Parent Lounge, with this requirement to be completed by Monday 7 February. In addition to this, Years 4 to 6 students will have their core teacher take them through these guidelines and agreement, and provide them with a hard copy to sign.

Crunch and Sip

As a reminder, all students from Pre-Prep to Year 6 should bring to school an additional small fruit or vegetable snack in a separate container. The time between breakfast and Morning Tea can be lengthy, therefore a small, healthy snack helps with energy and nutrition to sustain students through to their first break.

Student Diaries

All students will be issued a College Diary. Students in Prep to Year 5 are asked to bring their diaries to and from school each day, signed by both parent and teacher. Teachers from Prep to Year 5 will check diaries daily for any notes from home. Year 6 students will be attending Pastoral Care groups with their House instead of their core teacher and therefore they will be guided by their teacher in the use of their diaries. The College Diary will be another place for teachers to update families on any additional information which may not be in The Collective. If the diary is lost, a fee will be charged and the student issued a new diary through the College Shop.

Uniform Reminder

Please note, students in Prep to Year 5 are permitted to wear their sports uniform to school on days when they have HPE lessons – swimming, in-class sport or health. Core teachers will confirm these days at our Meet the Teacher afternoon.

Individual School Photos

Primary student individual photographs will take place on Wednesday 23 February. All students are required to wear full, school summer uniform on this day. Boys’ hair is expected to be neat and girls’ hair is tied back with a green ribbon or scrunchie if touching their collar.
