Principal's Page

Dear Families,

It is lovely to be out and about again with restrictions eased and events and celebrations able to take place without limits. I feel that we are able to resume routines and activities that we have not been able to for so long. This is also true for school routines. Last week saw our first whole school assembly, mass, School Advisory Council (SAC) and Parents and Friends Association Meetings take place.

Staff News

Congratulations to Jenny Young and Dave and Jess Virtue and James on their recent weddings. We wish both couples every happiness.

Congratulations also to Elle, Tim and the Mazurak family on the safe and happy arrival of Maeve Eden Mazurek, born 28 January. Both mum and babe are doing well.

New Baby

Congratulations Jessica, Christopher and Hamish (prep) on the arrival of beautiful Ayla.

Sustainability

We are so fortunate here to have Jane lead our Sustainability learning and teaching programs. Apologies  for leaving Jane off the staffing list last newsletter, her contributions to the St Joseph's community are invaluable.

Student Leadership

There are many opportunities for students to develop leadership skills at St Joseph's throughout the years of schooling, such as through class roles and responsibilities, Student Action Council representatives, leadership programs and working alongside peers. We announced and presented badges to our school captains at our first assembly. Congratulations to Scarlett Moore and Billy Lloyd. Congratulations also to Dolphin Research Ambassadors and Student Action Council Representatives. Student voice plays an important role in students' engagement to learning and wellbeing. Read more about our school leaders on our Student Wellbeing page.

Fees

Fee statements will be sent home to families in the next week. It has been decided that all school fees paid in full by 31March will receive a 2.5% discount. Please note that spending budgeted for 2022 has been set based on  the collection of fees for this year.

Valet Parking Safety

Just a reminder that students need to be picked up and dropped off at the Friendship Garden. No students are to be walking through the carpark or out the gates. If collecting outside the school grounds, please collect at the bottom of the ramp.

Parents and Friends Association

Thank you to Sophie, Hope and Liz who attended a productive meeting of the  P & F last Thursday. Sophie has written a P & F page for this newsletter.  Their aim this year is to reconnect the community and organise some fun, social activities for students and families. She has outlined some of the events coming up this term and is asking for volunteers. Please consider supporting our P & F as it is a wonderful way to contribute to our community.

Thank you to Sophie for supplying our morning tea on the first morning with the coffee van.

SAC

Our School Advisory Council (SAC) Chairperson Mel, has also included a page in the newsletter introducing SAC members and an overview of the first meeting.

Rapid Antigen Tests

Our recent delivery of Rapid Antigen Tests have not arrived on their due date. We will distribute once we receive them. Please keep students home if they show any COVID symptoms or are household contacts. We thank you for your support of this.

New Newsletter Format

As you can see, we are trialling a new newsletter format. We hope it meets your needs. If you have any feedback, suggestions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Enjoy your week,

Monica
