Dear Primary Families,
Welcome to the 2022 school year at Marist College Ashgrove! Whilst it is a different start to our year, I hope that you and your sons are looking forward to an exciting year ahead in the Primary School.
By now each family would have received a letter informing them of their son’s classroom teacher and other important information regarding the next two weeks in the Primary School. Please take the time to read this communication carefully and contact your son’s classroom teacher or Primary Reception should you have any questions.
Our weekly College Newsletter is an important point of communication to stay up to date with what is happening at the College. In order to streamline our communication, myself and other key members of the Primary staff will provide updates and photos in the Primary section weekly. Any important information requiring urgent attention or reference may also be distributed via e-mail, often from Primary Reception.
It was great to welcome staff back to the College last week, albeit online, as they commenced planning for the year ahead. A special welcome to our new Primary staff members Mr Shane Wheeler (6G), Mr Richard Coles (6B), Mr James Lidstone (5R) and Mr James Trebbin (5W).
In my communication yesterday, you would have received instructions regarding booking your Meet and Greet with your son’s classroom teacher via the ParentLounge. This 20-minute meeting is a great opportunity for you and your son to formally meet and build a relationship with his classroom teacher ahead of formal classes commencing on Monday 7 February.
Congratulations to our Primary Student Leaders for 2022 who were featured in The Quest News over the holidays. The article can be found here (subscription required).
On a personal note, I also wanted to thank these boys for giving up their time to be fantastic ambassadors for the College at my wedding on New Year’s Eve.
Prior to commencing the school year, it is important to have a discussion with your son about your pick-up procedures. In such a large College our Primary students, particularly those new, can often find pick-up time overwhelming. The two preferred areas of pick at the College are the Moola Road drop-and-go and the Grevillia Road (Des Connor Park side). Please see the map below for your reference.
