Head of Students News

Mr Peter Serone

Students of Essential Workers

As indicated by the Head of College, Mr Michael Newman, students of essential workers may attend the College this week for supervision.  The week commencing Monday 31 January, students in Years 5-7 will be supervised. Our Year 8 to 12 students will be supervised whilst joining classes for online learning.  If your son will be attending school for supervision, please email Peter Serone (seronep@marash.qld.edu.au).

Mask Mandate

Following on from Queensland government health directives students will be required to wear masks at school. Students will also be required to wear masks on public transport to and from school.  It is the parent’s responsibility to provide masks for their children. Please ensure that you supply your son with more than one mask to get through the day.

Online Learning Expectations

Later this week an email will be sent to all students in Years 8 – 12. Parents will be copied into the email. The information will be a reminder to students of teacher expectations during this time. If boys fail to meet the College’s expectations of student behaviour or use of IT, consequences will follow. In the past, behaviour has been excellent with very few issues. I would like to see all students start the year on a positive note with their new teachers. The curriculum team have already communicated expectations regarding attendance and learning.

Communication to all Year 7 families and new Year 8 – 11 students/Year 5 and new Year 6 families

The College pastoral leaders have made it their aim to make contact via phone or video link to all Year 5 and 7 families, along with any new families in Year 6 or Years 8 – 11 prior to the start of term.  These teachers will be the main point of contact for these students at what can be a challenging time of year, particularly with the unconventional start to 2022!
