On Monday 14 February, our School Captains were spreading LOVE day with heart chocolates and balloons for all VCE students.
Welcome back to a new school year!
It’s never too early to start thinking about career ideas, researching your options, developing a career action plan, or simply having a discussion with the Careers Co-ordinators.
Your Careers Co-ordinators for 2022 are Tim Kogelman and Kristy Mays. The Careers Office is located next to Student Services.
If you are in Year 12, it is essential that you discuss your options with the key people in your life as soon as possible. Mr Kogelman and Ms Mays will be conducting interviews with you this term: look out for your interview time on Compass.
Have no idea what you would like to do when you leave school? No stress! Don’t delay seeing your Careers Co-ordinator, now is the perfect time. Not sure what to say? Don’t worry it’s their job to guide you and open up possibilities you may not have considered before.
As a starting point, if you are interested in studying at university or TAFE in the future, it’s important you attend OPEN DAYS and plan out your course interests early.
Throughout Term 1, our Year 12 students are participating in a variety of Study Skills sessions on developing essential study habits and revision skills, and building relationships with their peers and teachers.
These will be running throughout the term during select IPT sessions. These are essential skills and it is expected that students are checking their compass schedule and attending these sessions.
A group of Year 11 students went on the VCE PE Surf Camp during Week 1 (2 - 4 February).
The camp proved a great start to the year, providing students with opportunities to surf, participate in beach activities, study and form positive relationships with each other and with staff.
Last week, Year 12s were very excited to receive their jumpers and loved having a photo taken!
Some students will acquire a car and licence in 2022. PARKING is available in the Stadium Car Park.
NO DRIVER STUDENT MAY TAKE OUT ANOTHER STUDENT IN THEIR CAR DURING SCHOOL HOURS.
Students may obtain their parents’ permission to be driven to and from school in another student’s car. A written note from both students’ parents must be given to the VCE Coordinators before driving another student or siblings.
Students must inform the VCE Coordinators of their licence plate numbers and car make and colour.
As per the school uniform policy, students are not to wear any facial piercings. This includes clear piercings.
Students also need to ensure that they wear white socks without logos and black polishable school shoes.
All Senior School uniform requirements are available through LOWES.
It is a requirement at Lilydale High School that students attend all timetabled classes so that teaching and learning opportunities can be maximised.
In the current climate, if students need to isolate or return a positive result, please contact the school to let us know so this does not impact attendance. Students should also email their teachers for the work they will miss during that time.
If students have reached their limit for absences from class, there is an opportunity for this time to be redeemed. Students can speak to their Year Level Coordinator to discuss making this time up at lunchtime, during afternoon study periods or after school.
Furthermore, it is a requirement that students attend Home Group, even if they have study periods during periods 1 and 2.
Any absences from school must be parent/guardian approved. You can do this through a signed note or you can approve your child’s absences via the Parent Approval Button on Compass.
You can also use Compass to view your student’s past absences.
Students will not be granted SAC redemption unless they have a medical certificate or it is a school-approved absence.
If there are extenuating circumstances please let us know and we will make a decision based on the VCAA guidelines.
Funky Socks Friday is back this year and kicked off last week! All Year 12 students are invited to wear ‘funky socks’ each Friday for a gold coin donation.
The Year 12 cohort will donate the proceeds to a charity of their choice.
The year started off busy, remembering timetables and getting back into the groove of school. I’ve particularly enjoyed socialising and am keen to look at addressing social issues through the year such as the lack of gender neutral toilets in the school.

Hi, my name is Grace and I’m one of the two Year 11 Captains for 2022. It feels so great to finally be back at school after so long and although VCE is a bit of a scary step-up, I’m so excited to see how the year is going to turn out!
