Term 4, Week 2

Learning and Teaching in Term 4

Celebrating the Arts is an important part of our school curriculum. Our production of Aladdin is amazing and it provides the opportunity for many of our quieter students to excel and the provision of opportunities for all of those students whose passion lies in this area. It will be so exciting to see the full production in Week 4.

Our other focus for this term includes Geography, Design and Technologies, the Intercultural capability and the value of Respect. Each level has planned an inquiry unit of work and their titles and key focus questions are listed below:

  • Preps - What is my Story?  What are places like? How and why are people connected to their place and other places? What makes a place special? How can we care for places?
  • Year One - My Melbourne - What makes Melbourne special?
  • Year Two - Oh the Places you'll go  including an International dress up day.
  • Year Three -  All around Australia - Learning based on the picture story book ' Mr Chicken All Over Australia'.
  • Year Four - What makes a Home? -  How and why are people connected to their place and other places?  What can we do to help refugees develop a sense of belonging in a new home?
  • Year Five - Europe and North America - What are the main geographical characteristics of Europe and North America?
  • Year Six - What on Earth? - If I were to live in Asia, what country would I live in and why? If you were to move to another country what aspects would the country have to have for you to want to move there?

Our Maths learning continues to grow and develop as we explore the many concepts using critical and creative thinking. In English we continue to focus on developing connections and making authentic links to our inquiry investigations.
