Real Industry Job Interviews

Year 10

Real Industry Job Interviews

On 25th October, Year 10 students battled their nerves and bravely attended a mock (practice) interview with a volunteer employer.

In the weeks preceding, students spent time in class selecting a job advertisement and preparing a resume and application letter.  Students were given a list of commonly asked interview questions ahead of time to assist them to prepare and rehearse possible answers.

After receiving an official letter of interview offer, students dressed up for the interview and were taken by bus to Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre to sit their interview.

Students returned feeling very positive about their experience and have been given constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement from the employers. This feedback can be used to refine their job applications and interview techniques for the future.

A lovely brunch was provided back at Lalor North Secondary College for the staff and students to celebrate their valuable experience.

Lalor North Secondary College staff and students are very grateful to the Hume Whittlesea Local Learning & Employment Network, in particular Helen Mecozzi and team, for organizing this massive event which involved hundreds of students from local secondary schools, and we also give sincere thanks to the many employers who gave up their morning to give students an interview.

A special thanks to Mr. Olah, Ms. Benincasa, Ms. Kathy Boca and Ms. Shahana Sheils for coming along on the day to support the students!
