GRADE 1-2 UPDATE

Hello Grade 1 and 2 Community,

This week in Reading we read the Australian Classic; ‘Possum Magic’ by Mem Fox. Students responded to here, head, and hidden questions relating to the text. The students continued to respond inferentially and literally to a collection of images.

In Mathematics, the students played ‘Code Breakers’, a fantastic game for verbalising numbers according to their place value. We also played ‘Teddy Town’ a game which looks at remembering and creating patterns. The students also looked at maps of the Ballarat Wildlife Park and worked some directions to their favourite animal.

For Writing, students focused on habits of a good writer. This saw students use picture prompts as inspiration when creating a text of their choice. Students moved through the planning, writing, reading and editing process, which has given some an insight into the creative process of writing.

Upcoming events/reminders:

  • We once again want to thank all our families for their support in ensuring reading is practised nightly.
  • Students will need to return all of their library books this Tuesday.
  • Could the students please bring in a light coloured t-shirt for the school concert. This t-shirt will need to be blank so that text can be added to the front.

Have a lovely weekend,

Lauren & Demy
