Literacy 

In Reading, we will: 

• Integrate our prior knowledge with new information from a variety of texts to consciously create new understandings
• Read a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts containing mature themes to build our social awareness and examine the authenticity of themes and subjects represented
• Use a range of comprehension strategies flexibly and interchangeably to analyse information and to integrate and link ideas from a variety of sources
• Read texts demonstrating all aspects of smooth, fluent processing, adjusting voice to match the mood of the text

In Writing, we will: 

• See ourselves as part of a community of writers who self-evaluate our writing and make decisions about possible changes based on feedback received from others
• Take risks as writers and experiment with producing unique pieces that reflect our personality, interests and increasing global awareness
