Congratulations teacher Felicity Puckey and partner Daniel on the arrival of their stunning baby Lucy. No doubt the line of students and staff will be out the door waiting for cuddles!

Parent Payments 2022 & 2023

Last night School Council ratified our annual Parent Payments (school fees) for 2023. There are a small percentage of families that have not made payments in 2022. Those families are invited to review their Compass profile. 2023 contribution letters will be distributed in November.

Parent Payments provide the school with valuable financial contributions from families that make Croydon Hills Primary School so special! Collectively your contributions allow us to provide opportunities and support above and beyond the traditional educational experience. These include:

  • The extensive resourcing of individual and classroom equipment, materials, digital subscriptions, and consumables that enrich learning in English, Mathematics, Science, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Indonesian, Physical Education, Sport and Digital Technologies.
  • The viability of a dedicated Specialist Science program for every child every week. This includes costs associated to Science Teachers, our reptiles, and The Farm.
  • Human resourcing of atypical staff:
  • The ongoing maintenance and beautification of our school grounds and facilities.
  • The provision of individual student book packs, general classroom stationery and digital device access.
  • A full-time Wellbeing Officer
  • A dedicated medically trained First Aid Officer
  • Additional Learning Enhancement (Literacy Support) Staff
  • A full-time Grounds and Facilities Officer
  • Science, Library, Physical Education, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Indonesian specialist teachers.

Croydon Hills Primary School understands that some families may experience financial difficulty and offers a range of support options, including:

  • the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund
  • payment by instalment
  • opting out

Placement of staff and students into classes for 2023

Over the last month our school has confirmed our 2023 school structure and staff. Following that exercise, our staff will begin the task of allocating students to classes for 2023.   As per the norm, our staffing allocations and final class structures will then be announced in late December.

As with our teaching teams, class groups are developed after careful consideration, balancing a range of issues and needs.  These include factors such as academic ability, behavioural challenges, friendships, and previous teachers.

A valuable part of the process is stakeholder feedback:

  • In the coming weeks students will be given the opportunity to list friends they would like to be with for the following year. They will be placed with at least one friend on that list.
  • Parent perspective can also add information to support this process. If you have any valuable information, regarding the class placement for your child for 2023, that is above and beyond what the classroom teacher and leadership team already know, you may wish to provide that information via this FORM by Thursday 17th November.

I encourage families to trust our school’s judgment and, like I do, value our teachers as high-calibre people that care first and foremost for our children. Ultimately, it is our current class teachers, as professionals with all available information, that are in the best position to place students in classes. Further, I am sure that you would understand that it is not always possible to accommodate all requests and that an important part of any student’s journey through their schooling is the development of vital life skills. This includes meeting, getting to know, and working with different personalities.
