Y7 French & Japanese Cultural Day

Year 7 Cultural Day was held on Wednesday 12th October.

On cultural day we had the fun of learning how to make crepes, a common French dish. The best part of making the crepes was when we got to flip them on the pan and add our delicious toppings.

After we got to experience a performance of Le Petit Nicolas by the Melbourne French Theatre. The show was highly entertaining, especially considering we got to watch the scenes in both French and English.

Our third activity we participated in was Japanese Sumie. We got to paint bamboo with black ink in the Japanese style. We used the Japanese style brush strokes and watched the teacher grind the ink with an ink stick and water.

Taiko was a fun experience. We learnt a Japanese style of drumming that was very loud and rhythmic. With that we also made some paper cranes and balloons out of origami paper. Kendama is a Japanese toy and was very hard but still exciting, we had to balance the ball on either side and land it on the stick.

Overall Year 7 Cultural Day was exciting because we learnt various types of French and Japanese activities, toys and dishes.
