Principal's Report

Our students have settled back into the routine of Term 4. This is the first Term 4 starting on-site in over 2 years. The last time our students started a Term 4 at school was in 2019. Just to put that in perspective:

  • Year 11s were in Year 8
  • Year 10s were in Year 7
  • Year 9s were in Year 6
  • Year 8s were in Year 5
  • Year 7s were in Year 4

This plays a part in ensuring students are reconnecting to the culture and setting up routines both in and out of school to provide them with a positive approach to learning.

Summer Uniform

The weather has been our usual unpredictable October Melbourne season which has meant rain, wind, sunshine and warmth, sometimes all in one day.  Students are now expected to be in summer uniform and for the cool mornings, wear their jumper under their blazer if necessary. Another reminder that blazers are to be worn to and from school.

Bayside Community Safety & Wellbeing Festival

The festival on Sunday was a great success.  This will now be a yearly event bringing together the various safety supports in our community along with a range of wellbeing support that can be accessed locally. There were guest speakers on anxiety, gaming and the dangers of vaping.

Our amazing parents contributed to the Parents’ Association Bake sale which was a hit. There were five long tables of sweet and savoury treats that were sold out by the end of the festival. Thank you to all the parent volunteers and the Parents’ Association for organising the bake sale.

A highlight of the festival was our students who were able to showcase their musical talents with a variety of singers, musicians and bands entertaining our visitors throughout the day. The sound of bagpipes and drums could be heard throughout Beaumaris as the police band performed.

Thank you to the Student Wellbeing Action Group for their outstanding commitment to bringing the festival together. Thank you to our local community for supporting this terrific event.

Swannie Awards

Congratulations to Ayesha G who won a Swannie Award for the top speaker in Year 10 for our region. This is the first year our college joined the DAV competition and we are proud of all of our students' commitment to the program and know that we will continue to see them perform very well in the years to come.

Year 7 2023 Information Evening

We had our first in person information night since 2019. Our parents were excited to be joining the community. The student leaders did a fantastic job sharing a student’s experience with our new families. They were connecting so well that many stayed well after the session finished.

Student-free Days

Our final two curriculum planning days for 2022 will be held on:

  • Tuesday 13 December
  • Monday 19 December
