Faith Matters

at St Francis Xavier School

Dear St Francis Xavier Families,

CONFIRMATION UPDATE

Last Friday I had the pleasure of accompanying our Confirmation Candidates, Tomo, Ruby, Micah, Caleb and Molly to the Xavier Centre to participate in their Confirmation Reflection Day along with students from other local schools. With much pride, I would like to share with you that they were genuine standouts in relation to the way they represented our school and through their behaviour, participation and knowledge. Most importantly, the respectful manner in which they introduced themselves to Bishop Tony Ireland, conversed with him and answered his questions was exemplary and noted by other teachers.

We pray for God's ongoing blessings on these students as they continue to prepare for Confirmation which will be celebrated next week.

PRAYERS IN PYJAMAS

Junior School Families, Prayers in Pyjamas is fast approaching and we look forward to welcoming you for this special evening.

Please RSVP by completing the form on the letter sent home to let us know if your family is attending as this will help us organise resources, activities and groupings.

Tuesday Morning Whole School Prayer

This term we have been starting each Tuesday morning with a whole school prayer. During this time, utilising the PA system, prepared slides and various resources we all join in prayer simultaneously but within our classes.  Staff and students have been helping to enhance our prayer time by sharing their ideas and prayers using the microphone. We have shared prayer in a variety of forms such as song, colouring and simple meditation.

Some of our prayer topics have included:

  • Honoring Mary and reflecting on her special gifts and values
  • Considering what we are thankful for
  • Contemplating how we give and receive joy

Every now and again Fr Chinua visits our school to facilitate a prayer service or workshop, chat with the children or meet with staff.

The Preps were both amused and impressed when Fr Chinua joined in for a few moments of their Fitness session this week.

Warmest wishes and God's blessings,

Marion O'Brien
