Second-hand Book Swap Night

In the past, the College has accepted responsibility for organising second hand book sales, but the system hasn’t been working now for several years. So we’re trying something new!

The Bairnsdale Secondary College Library will host a Book Swap Night facilitating direct private sales of second hand books on Wednesday 30th October from 5.00pm until 7.00pm. In the lead-up to the night, we’re asking that students interested in selling their textbooks second hand notify the library so that we can advertise how many copies of each book will be available for purchase on the night to attract buyers. On the Book Swap Night, students (accompanied by parents) come to the Wargomerrin/Wurrin (Junior) Building with their books to meet potential buyers/sellers. Buyers look at the books available and their asking prices and condition, and exchange contact details with the owner of book they wish to purchase (books can’t be purchased right away because students will need to keep using their books for the remainder of the school year). Sellers are then encouraged to contact the buyers when their student has finished using their textbook, but buyers will also have the contact number of the seller that was exchanged on the Book Swap Night.

If you want to sell your book but can’t make the Book Swap Night, speak to us at the Library and we might be able to be your proxy seller. You would need to drop off the book and fill in the seller’s paperwork before the Book Swap Night.

If you are unsuccessful in arranging to sell your book on the book swap night, we will be happy to accept book donations at the College Library when you’ve finished using it.

If you are unsuccessful in finding the book that you need second hand on the Book Swap Night, you will need to order a new version of the book from Schoolworks by the booklist due date.
