The Final Primary newsletter for 2019.
This week the College celebrated its 10th anniversary as Point Cook P-9 College. It has been an amazing journey since the College opened in 2010. I have been fortunate enough to have been here since the beginning and have watched our wonderful school grow and mature into the education facility it is today. Putting together our display of memories from the past decade certainly highlighted our achievements. I hope that you had the chance to have a look throughout the week.
PCC's Got Talent! Thank you to all of the students who have participated in PCC's Got Talent. We certainly have a talented group of students at the College. The Grand Final performances will be held on Friday the 13th of December at lunch time at the outdoor stage (students only). Please get behind your favourite performers and support them.
It’s with a huge smile that I look back on the year in retrospect. It has been a year of change for us, and a year of new beginnings. Our students are to be congratulated on how well they have conducted themselves throughout the year. I take great pride in telling people that I am the leader of such amazing students!
Our Preps have settled into Point Cook life, experiencing many different learning activities across the year. They enjoyed performing at the Sing-a-long, milking the cow on their farm excursion and celebrating their 100th day at school. They have shown huge growth in their learning throughout the year and are to be congratulated on their engagement in their learning.
Our year 1/2 students have continued to thrive throughout the year, demonstrating their learning through multiple means and celebrating their successes. They are to be congratulated on the amazing Passion Fair they ran this week, highlighting their passions for learning.
Our year 3/4 students have blossomed in our kitchen garden program, turning themselves into World-class chefs! They have shown a thirst for knowledge in their last inquiry around space. It has been exciting to see their engagement in their learning. And don't they know how to move and groove? Their performances at the recent 3/4 concert certainly made for an exciting show! Well done to all involved.
Our 5/6 students have taken being role models to the next level with their exceptional demonstration of the College expected behaviours throughout the year. They have enjoyed taking leadership in this term's inquiry units, investigating problems both locally and across the world to research and develop solutions for. Their capacity to create positive solutions is exceptional and they have had fun along the way.
To our year 6 students, your primary years of schooling are now at an end. Change is upon you; I urge you all to take what you have learnt across the last 7 years and use it to your advantage. Keep striving for excellence. In times of challenge, dig deep and remember what you have already achieved and how you were able to achieve it. The Primary Years at Point Cook College have equipped you with strategies to assist you in moving forward with your education. Congratulations on achieving this significant milestone, I wish you all the best for your Secondary Years of schooling.
To our families and friends at Point Cook College, I would like to say, thank you. Thanks for a great year, your support does not go unnoticed. It is greatly appreciated. No matter how you are able to support us, whether that be through supporting your children with their learning, encouraging them to 'have a go' at something new, supporting us to teach resilience, supporting our expected behaviours or physically being here to support our programs; you should be proud of what your children have achieved and how well they conduct themselves.
Point Cook Kids are Great Kids!
Wishing you and your families a safe and happy holiday
