The Assumption of Mary

On Monday we celebrate the feast called The Assumption of Mary into heaven. This is a day that we remember when Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken into heaven, body and soul, after she died. Mary’s life and death are a wonderful example of praise and thanksgiving to God.

Prayer

Gracious and generous God,

you looked upon your faithful and trusting servant, Mary,

and raised her up to live with you in glory.

May we be inspired by her love for you

and her faithfulness to doing your will.

We ask this through Jesus, your Son.

Amen.

Reflection:

August 15 is a special day – The Feast of the Assumption – when we remember how at the end of her life, Mary was taken up to heaven to be with God.

Mary is very special because she was chosen by God to be the mother of God’s son, Jesus. And Mary says "Yes" to all that God asks of her.

Think of how you can be like Mary and say yes to God.
