VCAL

Mini Golf Project at SVOEC

We are excited to report that the VCAL mini golf project at our Staughton Vale campus is complete.  A huge congratulations to the students and teachers involved in this project.  From planning to consulting and a lot of persistence and hard work, the students were able to meet a number of work related skills outcomes in their VCAL certificate.  Watch this video to see their journey!

Congratulations to Breanna Boston  - Intermediate VCAL student

Breenna
Breenna

Breanna recently replied to a compass post about the Defying The Drift Agriculture Event lead by Rotary Clubs Victoria, and, after seeking sponsorship and making a lengthy application, it was announced today that she has been accepted to attend the camp

Defying the Drift Camp is a challenging residential program at Longerenong College, where participants learn new skills, visit a range of rural enterprises, meet some great young agriculture role models and have a great time. The purpose of this event is to give young people exposure to industry professionals and the many agriculture careers available  - everything from hands-on farming to high-end research and everything in between.

Well done Bree.  This is an amazing step towards your chosen career.

VCE

Term 3 is a busy time as our students are flying along to the end of term. Some of the things that are happening this Term:

  • All VCE students will be participating in School Assessed Coursework (SAC) this term. It is always good to ensure your student is across their SAC dates so they can adjust their study time accordingly.
  • Our Year 12's will be having an assembly this week to talk through the General Achievement Test (GAT) . This is a compulsory task set each year and must be completed by all Year 12s. We will be having a few sessions in the lead up to the GAT to ensure our students understand what is required.
  • Year 12 and 11 will have regular assemblies each week so we can keep the group across all aspects of what is coming up for them.

PHOTO COMP

We have been running a photo comp in VCE for the best looking pets. Here are some of the finalists.

Woodwork

Billy and Tyler
Billy and Tyler

Students in year 10 wood work have been building picnic tables for placement around Goldsworthy campus. They have already completed three tables and have a few more to go. Congratulations to the class on their effort.

The two boys pictured (Billy Roberts and Tyler Seckold) completed this table in a double session.

A total of seven sleepers are needed to create the table, which needs to be cut to size and assembled.

Subject Selection 10-11

Year 10 students completed their subject selections for 2023 on July 28, their first step toward being senior students. The day of selections was a great success, with 83% of the cohort completing their selections. Our future seniors will benefit greatly from the collaborative efforts of family, students, and the school.
