The 2023 - 2027 work agreement for all staff

On Monday 25th July the workplace agreement between teachers and the Department of Education & Training [DET] into effect. This agreement has included a number of elements which recognise the work of our staff, that has not been there in past agreements. The most important element is the recognition by DET of the many hours of unpaid work all staff in schools do outside of the normal working day. The list of activities is endless, but at the local level several come to mind - concert, camps, parent meetings, graduation evenings. All of these activities teachers will be compensated for by either monetary payment or time-in-lieu. This will have an impact on schools - in their budgets and organising staff to access time-in-lieu. As with all things involving DET the devil is in the detail and as yet full operational response from DET is complete as yet.
