Be SUN SMART this SUMMER!
Be Sun Smart this Spring and Summer!
With the warmer weather fast approaching, it to time to become Sun Smart!
Here are some tips to become Sun Smart:
1. Slip on covering clothing.
Choose clothing that covers as much skin as possible, this includes choosing clothing that has a collared shirt and long sleeves.
2. Slap on SPF 30 (or higher) broad-spectrum water-resistant sunscreen.
Apply a generous amount of sunscreen to clean, dry skin at least 20 minutes before you go outside.
Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours as well as after swimming or if you have been excessively sweating.
Sunscreen should be used with other sun protection measures.
3. Slap on a hat!
Choose a broad-brimmed style hat that shades your face, nose, neck and ears.
4. Seek shade.
Use trees, built shade structures or bring your own! Shade reduces the UV radiation.
5. Slide on some sunglasses.
Sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat worn together can reduce UV radiation exposure to the eyes by 98%.
Sunglasses should be worn outside during daylight hours.
Remember to check your skin regularly and if you notice anything unusual, see your doctor as soon as possible.
