Principal's Announcements

Remembrance Day

On Monday the whole school paused at 11am for Remembrance Day.  It's a day where we remember all the service men and women who have sacrificed their lives in war for our country.  During this time we also remember that we can promote peace in our own lives through following the Gospel values of Love, Forgiveness, Understanding and Respect.  Myself and our Fire Carriers represented St Mary's at the local service at the cenotaph where Mason Ballentine and Maggie Davis laid a wreath on behalf of the school.

Departing Staff Members

It is with regret to inform everyone that Elley Drummond and Sarah Langley will not be teaching at St Mary's next year.  After 5 years of service, Elley has taken up a position at St Mel's Shepparton and Sarah is taking a year off to pursue other interests.  I thank them both for the contribution they have made to St Mary's and wish them every blessing next year.

New Staff Members

We are excited to announce that Coby Turk and Hannah Chasemore will be joining our teaching staff next year.  Coby is an ex St Mary's student and Hannah is from Shepparton (St Brendan's & NDC).  They both have recently completed their Bachelor of Education at La Trobe Bendigo.  We are very excited to welcome Coby and Hannah to our staff for 2020.

Administration Extension

As many of you would have seen our administration extension is coming along well and is on schedule to be finished after Christmas.  We look forward having the new office open for the new school year.

Aboriginal Writing Award

Congratulations to Jaegan Briggs who was awarded a Dungala-Kaiela writing award during a special presentation ceremony at Rumblara last week.  Jaegan is very proud of his Aboriginal heritage and this is a worthy recognition of the passion he has for his amazing culture.  Great effort Jaegan!

Gr 4 Camp

Although the weather wasn't the best, the Gr 4's had a fantastic time last week at Camp Kookaburra Corop.  They took part in many fun activities including flying fox, canoeing, ropes courses and archery.  The children's behaviour and engagement was excellent, which ensured a great time was had by all.  Thank you to the Gr 3/4 staff for organising and attending the camp.

Ducklings!

The Preps were very excited to get up close and personal with some baby ducklings this week!  Thank you to Denzel Cox (Gr 6) for organising the visit.

Amazing Art!

Some of the Preps visited me this week to show me their beautiful art work.  The detail and care put into each piece is amazing!  Well done kids!
