Love Languages

As you may know there are 5 ways that we, as individuals, prefer to show love and receive it. The same idea exists In the workplace. The book 5 Love Languages describes them as:  Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Acts of Service, Tangible Gifts, and Physical Touch. After taking the short inventory I came out high in Words of Affirmation. This makes a lot of sense to me. When I hear or read something positive about myself it brings me so much joy! The words stick with me and motivate me. On the flip side when I hear something negative, or even when I feel like I was not effective in any given situation, my negative self-talk can replay in my head over and over, causing me to feel defeated.

Having received cards and gifts from teams, for Dean Appreciation Day, this Friday was a huge highlight! This made me feel reenergized and motivated. I appreciate them so much!!

It is very important for us to know our own ‘love language’ and that of our teammates in order to help us maintain our motivation, especially during trying times, when you want to cheer up a teammate, or let someone know you appreciate them. Collectively we have so many positive qualities! Let’s stay focused on our goals both instructionally and personally to ensure we are a school our scholars need and deserve because they are the reason we are here!!

We will be doing this activity as a school in order to help us get to know each other better. :)
