RSC Prefect Investiture

On Friday the 12th of February, the appointed Year 12 Prefects were officially inducted into their roles at the annual RSC Prefect Investiture, to an audience of their families and younger student leaders.

Presented by Assistant Principal Mr Tucker, the afternoon started with an Acknowledgement of Country by local Indigenous Elder Aunty Irene. Mr Phillips then engaged our Prefects with wise words on what it means to be a leader, and how to approach the challenges that we face through different perspectives.

Dylan Hornsby - RSC Head Prefect of 2011, was also invited to impart his insight as a former Year 12 leader. Sharing his experience of leadership in his final year of school, as well as his approach to life after Year 12.

The speakers were accompanied by several musical acts. Which included RSC’s Jazz Combo, and their performance of ‘Noir’, the Senior Vocal Ensemble’s rendition of ‘I am Australian’ and a tremendously expressive vocal performance of ‘My Petersburg’ by Ben Noble-Saroto.

It was a terrific afternoon, as our new school leaders signed their name and made the Prefect Pledge, beginning their official Prefect journey.

Senior School News

The Senior School has hit the ground running and despite the three-days of remote learning during the lock down last week, our classes have forged ahead and students are working diligently so far this semester. Both Year 11 and 12 students have started their SACs and various assessments for the year and it is pleasing to see our students so focused.

Prefect Investiture

We have a wonderful group of school leaders in both Year 11 and 12 this year and on Friday 12th February, we were able to officially induct our 12 leaders at the Prefect Investiture. Parents, staff and students were invited to an official ceremony and afternoon tea with guest speaker and former Head Prefect from 2011, Dylan Hornsby. Congratulations, once again to our 2021 prefects.

Senior School Policies Consent

I have been in communication with parents regarding our Senior School Policies this year and have created an event on Compass that outlines all of the policies for S/N results, SACs, SATs and attendance. If you have not yet had a look and consented, may I remind you to do so by March 16th. Should there be any questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Senior School Levies

Parents will have also noticed that we have posted information regarding the Senior School Levies this year. In Year 11 and 12 we offer a useful program of educational support and guest speakers to assist our students throughout their academic journey. In order to provide these guest speakers and programs for the students we ask for a financial contribution from families in order to cover these costs. Please check your family Compass page to pay for this event by 5th March.

Year 12 Jumpers

Just as the mornings became a little brisk, the Year 12s students were very eager to receive their Year 12 jumpers! The Senior School study centre was filled with excitement on Monday 22nd February as students were finally able to don their jumpers with pride.

Year 12 Edrolo presentation

Edrolo is an online resource providing students with engaging, informative and comprehensive presentations to help them understand and learn all they need to know for their exams. With comprehensive and engaging video lectures, supported by worked examples from past exams and interactive quizzes, Edrolo helps students understand, clarify and revise the content that teachers cover in the classroom.

During Bounce on Tuesday 23rd February, students in Year 12 VCE attended a presentation by Edrolo guest speaker Laura Dortmann. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn about the benefits of this online platform to support their Year 12 learning journey.

Year 12 Media

We celebrated our first Year 12 Media Teams Meeting with Movie Monday.

Selecting our favourite movie to be our background image or sharing the DVD cover. This was a great way to start off the week as we learn all about the film Baby Driver and how Edgar Wright engages the audience.
